“Music speaks to people. Every facet of our lives usually has music attached to it somewhere. It’s amazing to contribute to that; a little bit of happiness in someone’s life.” -Zelena Hull

Voodoo

Voodoo is about a woman escaping her abusive husband using magic, however her plan goes off the rails when the cops are called. This song is a bluesy rock song with synth elements. I wanted to create something out of this world, yet have some familiarity to it. This was inspired by some of the horror stories I grew up hearing as a child. The small town I lived in as a child had a lot of stories to tell for it’s size.

Lyrics:

In the middle of the night, there was screaming and fright

Word got around that woman’s had enough

Cop walked in expecting to find something

But what lawman didn’t know was behind her back

Oh Voodoo She had enough

Oh Voodoo treated her too tough

If lawman finds out she’s as good as dead

Oh Voodoo

Past love flashed before her eyes

She remebered that weapon in disguse

Lawman at the door, the cop was looking at the floor

She knew what was in store

Oh Voodoo She had enough

Oh Voodoo treated her too tough

If lawman finds out she’s as good as dead

Oh Voodoo

Lawman turned his back and she got worried

To her delight their guns tucked tight

Her thread ready and her needle tucked

Let’s say that doll put an end to it all

Oh Voodoo She had enough

Oh Voodoo treated her too tough

If lawman finds out she’s as good as dead

Oh Voodoo

Oh Voodoo She had enough

Oh Voodoo treated her too tough

If lawman finds out she’s as good as dead

Oh Voodoo
