City Lights

I wrote this when I was 13 to 14 years old and I almost put it on my album 6ft under a long time ago. This song has a beautiful soft piano as the introduction and bedding of the song. City Lights is about nostalgia and how things will change over time. If you loved the hometown you grew up in and finally return after years it will change. Time is inevitable impermanence.

Lyrics:

It’s been a long while since I’ve seen you here
The town’s lost many like you
I remember long ago when the streets were a glow
But you don’t know do ya

City stops and city lights
Oh so many lonely nights
That times passed you by
But you packed your dreams too late

Left a while ago and packed your dreams with it
But times passed you by
Left the good behind, and returned when it was gone

It seems like it was lost in the dust
But you always said you did what you must
There’s only thing I can tell you now

City stops and city lights
Oh so many lonely nights
That times passed you by
But you packed your dreams too late
